The Atlanta Braves selected Wake Forest right-hander Ryan Cusick with the 24th overall pick in the first round of the 2021 MLB amateur draft on Sunday night. Cusick's heater has been clocked as high as 102 mph and might be the hardest-throwing starter in the college ranks. He generates high spin rates with his fastball, but he'll need to throw more strikes and be more efficient with his arsenal to remain a starting pitcher at the next level. Cusick has developed a better curveball and also flashes a sinking changeup when he uses it. The right-hander has a slurvy slider as his fourth offering. Cusick's arm strength and easy delivery are impressive, but this is a big arm that could take a while to develop. If it doesn't work out as a slider, his power fastball would also play well in a relief role.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
