The Baltimore Orioles signed draft picks Jordan Westburg (No. 30 overall) and Hudson Haskin (No. 39 overall) on Saturday. Westburg, the No. 33 prospect in the draft per Baseball America, hit .285/.385/.446 in three seasons at Mississippi State at shortstop. He had four homers and slashed .326/.385/.516 in the Cape Cod League last summer. Westburg's slot value was worth $2.37 million. Haskin, an outfielder, hit .372/.459/.647 with 10 home runs in his freshman year at Tulane in center field. He was ranked as the No. 211 prospect because of his unique swing mechanics. Haskin's slot value was worth $1.91 million. Westburg has the skills to stay at shortstop, but it remains to be seen if his bat will play at the upper levels. Haskin has impressive tools but will need to make more contact and shorten his swing if he hopes to advance quickly through the minors.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
