The Los Angeles Dodgers selected Texas Tech pitcher Clayton Beeter with the 66th overall pick in the second round in the 2020 MLB draft on Thursday. Beeter has already had two elbow surgeries, but he turned heads with his performance this spring. The right-hander had Tommy John surgery in the fall of 2017 and had eight saves as a redshirt freshman in 2019. He also had twice as many strikeouts (33) as baserunners (18) in 21 innings in 2020. It's impressive that his fastball peaked at 98 mph this spring, and he also features two power breaking balls in a wipeout curve and slider. Beeter creates deception and a steep downhill plane with an overhand delivery. He had much better control as a starter, but his limited track record and arm injuries make him a risk.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
