The Oakland Athletics selected Michigan pitcher Jeff Criswell with the 58th overall pick in the second round in the 2020 MLB draft on Thursday. Criswell was the top prep prospect in 2017 and was taken by the Tigers in the 35th round. He was an excellent No. 3 starter for the Wolverines in 2019 and also was a key bullpen arm in their College World Series run. Criswell maintained his velocity while going from a reliever to a starter and shows heavy sink with his fastball. The right-hander is still learning on the fly, however, but he could become a solid starter at the next level. He'll need to avoid overthrowing against better hitters so that the location of his pitches isn't compromised.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
