The Tampa Bay Rays selected Virginia Tech pitcher Ian Seymour with the 57th overall pick in the second round in the 2020 MLB draft on Thursday. Seymour, a left-hander, isn't very big (6-foot, 210 pounds), but his stuff was playing up this spring before baseball was shut down. His fastball improved in velocity this spring and he gives hitters fits because of his deception and heavy life on his heater. Seymour also has an above-average changeup that is a strikeout pitch. His improved velocity and success in the Cape Cod League last summer boosted his draft stock this year. The 21-year-old will get a chance to start initially, but he could also become a fastball/changeup reliever if that doesn't work out.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
