NFL DFS Prop Picks for Week 14 MNF (12/9/19) - Monkey Knife Fight

The 2-10 New York Giants are facing the 5-7 Philadelphia Eagles in a game with, believe it or not, playoff implications. Enjoy that unbelievable fact, play props and win Monday night with Monkey Knife Fight.

There is no denying that the Giants have been awful this season and an injury to rookie quarterback Daniel Jones means that veteran Eli Manning returns to the starting role for the Giants. Injuries have been a problem for the Giants this season, and tight end Evan Engram joins Daniel Jones on the sidelines this week, but Manning still has a reasonably talented supporting cast, including running back Saquon Barkley along with wide receivers Golden Tate, Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton. Can they play spoiler to the Eagles’ playoff hopes?

The Eagles have lost three straight, including at Miami last week, yet they are still alive in the NFC East playoff picture because the division-leading Dallas Cowboys are just 6-7. Quarterback Carson Wentz has not been nearly as productive this season as he’s been in the past but does have some weapons including rookie running back Miles Sanders, tight end Zach Ertz, and wide receiver Alshon Jeffery. This game matters to the Eagles, a lot, so can they pull it together and take care of business against a struggling divisional rival?

OVER/UNDERS

Carson Wentz OVER 260.5 PASSING YARDS – It’s fair to say that the Eagles quarterback has been underwhelming this season, averaging just 236.7 passing yards per game. He will have a healthier receiving corps Monday night and does get the benefit of facing the Giants Defense, which has struggled when it comes to pass defense. The Giants have allowed 258.6 passing yards per game, which isn’t good, but their struggles really show in allowing 8.5 yards per pass attempt, a number that ranks 31st out of 32 teams. If the Giants can stay competitive enough that the Eagles have to throw the ball, Wentz should be able to surpass 260 passing yards, something he has done three times this season.

Eli Manning OVER 240.5 PASSING YARDS – Although he has started just two games this season, Eli thew for 306 yards and 250 yards in those two starts and averaged 268.7 passing yards per game last season. Send him out there against and Eagles team that is middle of the pack in terms of pass defense (241.7 passing yards per game, 7.4 passing yards per attempt) and Eli should be able to find his way to a reasonably productive yardage total.

Saquon Barkley UNDER 65.5 RUSHING YARDS – Since returning from injury the results have been uneven for the Giants star running back, though he did run for 83 yards against Green Bay last week, his highest rushing yardage total since Week 2. The Eagles have been relatively successful against the run, with 91.0 rushing yards against per game and 4.0 yards per carry, both of which rank in the top quarter of the league.

Miles Sanders OVER 14.5 FANTASY POINTS – Philadelphia’s rookie runner has been taking on a bigger role, putting up an average of 85.8 yards from scrimmage (along with 0.4 touchdowns per game) in the past five games, and going against a Giants team that is average in terms of fantasy points allowed to running backs suggests that Sanders should be able to continue his strong run of recent production.

RAPID FIRE

Alshon Jeffery +8.5 receiving yards vs. Zach Ertz – Injuries have limited Jeffery this season and he’s averaging just 54.4 receiving yards per game this season, but that number got a big boost when Jeffery returned to the Eagles lineup last week and caught nine passes for 137 yards on 16 targets at Miami. Ertz is averaging 61.3 receiving yards per game, and there are some ups and downs along the way. In the past six games, for example, three games are over 90 receiving yards and three are under 40, which is enough of an opening to like Jeffery as the underdog in this matchup.

Golden Tate +0.5 receptions vs. Sterling Shepard – Expected to return from a concussion this week, Tate has been a productive receiver for the Giants, averaging 5.1 receptions per game. However, all of those games have come with Daniel Jones as the Giants quarterback so it’s really unknown what kind of chemistry could exist between Tate and Eli Manning. Shepard has more of a track record with Eli but is averaging 5.5 receptions per game and has been trending down, with eight catches in two games since returning from injury.
