The Cut List - Players on the Chopping Block (Week 17)

As we head into the final week of the NFL season, obviously the overwhelming majority of you are done. Hopefully, you took home at least one championship. If not, at least you had fun, right?

The offseason comes and goes quickly, though, and we will have a ton of content to keep your football desires satiated throughout the downtime. For the small percentage of you still playing this week, the Cut list returns one last time in 2017. Below are my Week 17 cuts and drops for fantasy football.

Let's get to it.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Players to Consider Dropping or Replacing

Any Starters Not Playing

There will probably be some teams that inexplicably play their starters in a meaningless week 17 game. For most teams, the guys that don't need to play won't be playing. Starters on the Jaguars, Eagles, and Vikings all have nothing to play for in the season's final week. The Rams are also a candidate to rest players as although their positioning isn't locked, the difference between the #3 and #4 seed is relatively insignificant. If you see that a coach has stated he will be resting his starters, you can go ahead and drop anyone that won't be playing for their real teams or you in week 17.

Jordy Nelson (WR, GB)

It would not shock me if some Packers rested as well. Jordy Nelson left Saturday night's blowout loss to the Vikings early with a left arm/shoulder injury and did not return. Regardless of his status and while I acknowledge that keeper leagues play some role, it is arguably the most astounding thing I've ever seen in fantasy football that Nelson is 91% owned heading into the final week of the season. Nelson hasn't posted more than 35 receiving yards or 7.5 PPR fantasy points since October 15. His ownership percentage should be under 10% in normal sized redraft leagues. Healthy or not, there's no way you were starting him last week and no way you can start him this week.

Joe Mixon (RB, CIN)

I can't imagine Joe Mixon plays in week 17 after missing the previous two weeks with a concussion, returning for a few plays only to leave again with an ankle injury. The talented rookie is the future of the Bengals run game and there is simply no reason to put him at risk in a game that doesn't matter.

DeMarco Murray (RB, TEN)

There is no need to guess as to DeMarco Murray's week 17 status. He's not playing. Murray suffered what is believed to be a pretty serious knee injury late in last week's loss to the Rams. Murray has played his last snap as a Titan.

Evan Engram (TE, NYG)

The Giants struck gold with their mega talented rookie TE, Evan Engram. One of the best rookie TE seasons of all time was cut short last week due to a rib injury. With just one game left, there's no incentive for the Giants to push Engram to play. If you've been relying on Engram, you have to let him go for a healthy week 17 option.
