Welcome back for another week of daily fantasy NASCAR. The Monster Energy Cup Series has reached the second elimination race of the Playoffs and that means four drivers hopes of winning a championship in 2017 will be over following the Hollywood Casino 400 from Kansas Speedway.
For fantasy purposes, we can go back to the regular strategy we have been using most of the season as Kansas is one of the many mile and a half intermediate tracks on the circuit. That means dominator points will once again be huge as there has been at least one driver to lead 100 or more laps and at least two drivers to lead 50 or more laps in five of the last six races here. This doesn't mean we throw place differential out the winder, however, as there have been at least four drivers with double-digit place differential points in each of the last six races with a whopping 11 in May's race.
Practice and qualifying have now wrapped up so let's dig in and take a look at some of the top DFS plays for this week.
Daily Fantasy NASCAR: DraftKings DFS Lineup Picks - Hollywood Casino 400
Kevin Harvick($9,600)
Harvick has everything going for him this week including a price that sits in the mid $9K range making him safe in all formats. He comes back to Kansas with some excellent track history with four Top 5 finishes in his last fives races here including a win in this race last playoffs. He and the #4 team have also shown elite speed this weekend finishing Top 3 in all three practices including the fastest 10-lap average in each final practice on Saturday.
Kyle Busch($10,300)
Busch and the #18 team are in somewhat of a do or die situation this week as they sit seven points below the cutline going into Sunday's race. Kyle, himself, did not sound too concerned following Talladega and it most likely has to do with his dominance here at Kansas lately. He has finished Top 5 in five straight race here including a win in the May race last year. He gives us a bit of place differential value this week starting 8th and then followed that up with an 8th and 2nd in the final two practices.
Daniel Suarez($7,400)
Suarez didn't make the playoffs in his rookie season but has been very consistent lately with six straight Top 15 finishes with four Top 10's. He now returns to Kansas where he impressed in his first race with a 7th place finish and has the speed to grab another Top 10 this week at a value price. There is some risk with him starting 6th on Sunday but he followed up that strong qualifying effort with a 3rd and 4th rank in the final two practices.
Chris Buescher($6,700)
Diving even deeper down the value chain we find Chris Buescher who we have not heard a lot from this season as he has only picked up three Top 10 finishes. He ranks Top 20 in my overall model on my cheatsheet thanks to his 21st starting position which gives him some place differential upside as he closed out the final practices ranking 7th and 11th.
