EPL Fantasy Team Of The Week - Match Day Six

GK – Adrian – West Ham United

Adrian was sensational on Saturday, tallying eight saves in West Ham’s 2-1 upset victory over Man City. The Hammer backstop led his squad to its third consecutive road victory, securing second position in the table for now.

DF – Kurt Zouma – Chelsea

Finally, the Chelsea backline showed signs of life. After getting pummeled in the first five weeks, the Blues held tight to the irritated and shorthanded Gunners. Zouma’s 53rd minute header gave Chelsea the lead before an extra time strike by Eden Hazard sealed the clean sheet victory.

DF – Russell Martin – Norwich City

Martin spearheaded an organized backline that contained a highly active Liverpool squad. After allowing the Reds to take a 1-0 lead, Martin evened the game with a goal of his own to secure the draw for the Canaries.

DF – Winston Reid – West Ham United

The unheralded star of the Hammer’s backline showed his worth. Reid displayed an unwavering confidence against Man City despite the arduous task of facing Kun Aguero and the Citizen attack.

MF – Juan Mata – Manchester United

Even before Man U’s recent offensive awakening, Mata was the Red Devil’s most consistent and efficient offensive player. With the emergence of Anthony Martial, Wayne Rooney has moved back into his withdrawn role, sliding Mata to a more outside assignment. Looking sensational in his perimeter-based role, Mata tallied an assist and a late goal in United’s second-consecutive three goal outburst.

MF – Eden Hazard - Chelsea

His extra-time gift of a goal against a hapless Arsenal squad most certainly swayed some of Saturday's daily games. In addition to his goal, Hazard added another shot on goal, and drew four fouls.

MF – Riyad Mahrez – Leicester City

It cannot be understated how important Mahrez has been to Leicester’s undefeated start. The Algerian winger followed up a two assist performance in Leicester’s comeback victory over Aston Villa with a penalty kick goal this weekend in the Fox’s 2-2 draw with Stoke. Mahrez is making a early season case for Player of the Year with six goals and three assists through the first six weeks.

MF – Son Heung-min – Tottenham

In his league debut, Son wasted no time earning the love of the White Hart Lane faithful. After a two-goal performance Thursday in Europa League, Son netted the Spurs only goal of the day in their convincing victory over Crystal Palace

FW – Graziano Pelle - Southampton

Italy’s first choice striker has been a bastion of consistency in what, otherwise, has been an erratic season for the Saints. Despite his two goals, Southampton fell one goal short to Manchester United on Sunday. The Saints are currently 16th in the table.

FW – Odion Ighalo - Watford

Ighalo’s two first half goals were the difference in Watford’s 2-1 victory over the floundering Magpies. The brace was respectively Ighalo’s third and fourth goals of the year.

FW – Anthony Martial – Manchester United

Two weeks ago Martial was an overpriced teen – earning the ire of the British press and the United faithful alike over the mind-boggling expense of his transfer fee. Currently, he looks to be worth every pound. After scoring in a second half cameo last week, Martial earned the start and netted a brace in United’s 3-2 victory at St. Mary’s on Sunday.
