MLB DFS Lineup Picks & Sleepers – DraftKings Advice for 8/30/15

As always, my goal with this article is to help you identify viable options to insert into your DraftKings lineups, based on pricing and matchups data. Here's a compilation of players I like when choosing a lineup for Sunday, August 23rd.

Editor's Note: If you play on DraftKings, you should check out our Partner FanDuel - they're hosting a one-day Fantasy Baseball league tonight. It's just $5 to enter and pays out $40,000 in cash prizes, including 4K to 1st place!

Offenses to Target for DraftKings Stacking

Texas Rangers LHB vs Miguel Gonzalez

As left-handed batters, the Texas Rangers hold a top five offense against right-handed pitching, with a wRC+ of 114. Prince Fielder and Shin-Soo Choo both look to be great value picks against Miguel Gonzalez, who has been terrible as of late. He has given up at least three earned runs in each of his past six outings. Gonzalez has also managed to be very prone to the long ball in his past few outings, so definitely take advantage of his struggles.

Detroit Tigers RHB vs Mark Buehrle

As right-handed batters, the Detroit Tigers hold the second best offense in the league against left-handed pitching, with a wRC+ of 131. Definitely consider Miguel Cabrera and Victor Martinez for your corner infield spots, as they both have terrific lifetime numbers against Mark Buehrle.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for DraftKings

Stephen Strasburg (SP, WAS) - $10000

Stephen Strasburg looks to be in line for a great day on the mound against the Miami Marlins. The Marlins hold the worst offense in the league against right-handed pitching, with a wRC+ of just 80. Strasburg on the other hand has four straight quality outings. Additionally, the young ace has been able to both lower his walk rate and increase his strikeout rate during this stretch.

Nathan Eovaldi (SP, NYY) - $7400

Nathan Eovaldi has a great matchup on Sunday against the Atlanta Braves. The Braves hold the third worth offense in the league against right-handed pitching, with a wRC+ of 86. Eovaldi has put together some solid performances as of late, while showcasing a respectable strikeout rate. He has also been able to limit the long ball, making him a much safer pick than in the past.

DFS Infielders to Consider for DraftKings

Travis d’Arnaud (C, NYM) - $4900

Travis d’aArnaud’s dominance against left-handed pitching can’t be ignored. D'Arnaud holds a tremendous wOBA of .502 against left-handed pitching this season. Despite his high price tag, the rare production from the catcher position is worth paying for, as d’Arnaud faces the struggling Wade Miley at home.

Carlos Santana (1B, CLE) - $3700

Carlos Santana makes for a great value pick against opposing pitcher Jered Weaver at home. Santana has hit well against right-handed pitching this season, holding a wOBA of .337. Santana has also dominated Weaver in his career, going 12 for 23 with two home runs and four walks. These aspects make Santana a very safe pick for smaller competition pools.

Anthony Rendon (2B, WAS) - $3700

Anthony Rendon’s struggles this season are well noted, but he has really picked it up as of late. Heading into the weekend, Rendon is 9 for his last 22 with two home runs. Rendon has also performed well against left-handed pitching this season, holding a wOBA of .331. Look to roster Rendon as he faces opposing pitcher Brad Hand at home.

Ryan Zimmerman (3B, WAS) - $4000

While you are at it, have a look at Ryan Zimmerman as well. Zimmerman holds a wOBA of .360 against left-handed pitching this season. Zimmerman has also been in a nice groove as of late, racking up RBI opportunities with this Nationals offense clicking around him. Zimmerman has dominated opposing pitcher Brad Hand in a small sample, going 6 for 8.

Andrelton Simmons (SS, ATL) - $3000

Andrelton Simmons is a reach into the bargain bin against opposing pitcher Nathan Eovaldi at home. Simmons is hitting .314 in the month of August. Simmons also holds a wOBA of .305 against right-handed pitching this season, and has terrific career numbers against Eovaldi. Simmons is a lifetime 7 for 23 against Eovaldi.

DFS Outfielders to Consider for DraftKings

Nelson Cruz (OF, SEA) - $5200

I hope you aren’t getting tired of hearing his name. Nelson Cruz remains a great play against opposing pitcher Jose Quintana on the road. Cruz holds a wRC+ of 210 against left-handed pitching on the season. He is batting .335 since the All Star Break and should remain a fixture in your lineup against all southpaws.

Franklin Gutierrez (OF, SEA) - $4200

Cruz’s teammate Franklin Gutierrez looks to be a great pick on Sunday as well. Gutierrez holds an even better wRC+ of 211 against left-handed pitching this season and is absolutely crushing the ball as of late. He has home runs in three straight starts and is 8 for his last 17. Gutierrez will continue to see all possible starts against left-handed pitching, so don’t worry about possible lineup shifts.

Jacoby Ellsbury (OF, NYY) - $3900

Jacoby Ellsbury should be a nice sleeper pick against opposing pitcher Julio Teheran on the road. Ellsbury holds a wRC+ of 99 against right-handed pitching this season. You can also look to exploit Teheran’s struggles against left-handed batters this season. Opposing left-handers are batting .296 against Tehran while right-handers only hold a .221 average.
