High-Confidence Strikeout Picks

All odds were current as of 6:30 AM

Dylan Cease OVER 7.5 strikeouts (-117 DraftKings)

I always want to take a good look at Dylan Cease when he is pitching at home. In 2026, he is posting a 2.33 ERA and 13.8 K/9 in the Rogers Centre. He has been in solid form recently as well. Over his previous four starts, he has not allowed more than two earned runs and has struck out eight or more three times.

His metrics are also off the charts, as to be expected. He ranks in the 9th percentile with a 36.5% whiff rate. He also ranks in the 7th percentile with a 32.6% chase rate. Overall, his strikeout rate sits at 36.2%, which ranks in the 99th percentile. Quite frankly, his strikeout stuff is elite.

He will be up against the Texas Rangers, who have been a bit up and down in the strikeout rankings. They are currently posting roughly a 20% K rate, which is my threshold for looking at K props. With Cease sitting at 7.5 strikeouts today, I think he can get over this total at home once again.

Chase Burns OVER 6.5 strikeouts (-156 NOVIG)

Chase Burns is set at 6.5 and 7.5 depending on the book, at 6.5, he makes for a decent parlay piece if you like to play that way. Over his previous seven starts, he has struck out seven or more batters in every game, and struck out eight or more in three of those starts.

His metrics are not surprisingly superb. On the season, he has a 33.2% whiff rate, which ranks in the 93rd percentile. He has also generated a ridiculous 51.3% whiff rate on his slider, which has earned him a 34.4% putaway rate. He will be up against the Pittsburgh Pirates today, who tend to strike out.

Over the previous two weeks, the Pirates have posted a 24.5% K rate versus right-handed pitching, which ranks 11th-worst in baseball. I will point out that they have also posted a 123 wRC+ mark over that same span, so their offense is quite dangerous.

That being said, Burns has had success against them. Across 41 PA, he has posted a 41.5% K rate and allowed just a .178 xwOBA, so he can certainly achieve seven or eight strikeouts against this lineup.
