Cole Payton 2026 Fantasy Football Outlook: Eventual Replacement for Jalen Hurts?
When you are fourth on the team's depth chart, the outlook for the season is not positive. In Philadelphia, the Eagles currently have Jalen Hurts, Andy Dalton, Tanner McKee, and rookie Cole Payton on the roster. While the Eagles could cut a veteran signal-caller, it is more likely they hope to sign Payton to their practice squad. The well-polished lefty completed 161 of 224 passes (71.8%) for 2,719 yards and 16 passing touchdowns while adding 777 rushing yards on 136 attempts, which led to 13 more scores. With Payton's ability to run and throw, it makes sense that the Eagles would want to keep him on the roster as a potential replacement for Jalen Hurts if he were to miss significant time in the future. Eagles scout, Duke Tobin, pounded the table for Payton, giving him his red star, calling him the toughest player on the team, and saying he's wired like an Eagle.
