Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football waiver wire outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider adding off waivers in Week 9:
Cooper Kupp, WR, Seattle Seahawks
However, Kupp still holds upside depending on the Seahawks' game script. In the three games where Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold has been forced to attempt at least 30 passes, Kupp has recorded 14 catches for 181 yards on 19 targets.
Coming out of their Week 8 bye, the Seahawks will face the Washington Commanders, Arizona Cardinals, and Los Angeles Rams. In fantasy leagues where Kupp may have been dropped during his bye week, he could be worth adding as a matchup-dependent flex option.
Kyle Monangai, RB, Chicago Bears
Swift had a little more success, but Monangai had the longest running back run with his 15-yard carry. He wasn't targeted in the passing game this week, but he has shown he can be a good receiver out of the backfield when called upon.
Even though he didn't have huge numbers this week, he remains a strong pickup from the waiver wire based on his playing time. He's also in a great matchup in Week 9 against the Bengals, who have been an exceptional matchup for running backs this season.
Kayshon Boutte, WR, New England Patriots
Boutte has been a big-play merchant for New England, averaging 18.7 yards per reception. Perhaps most encouraging for his fantasy outlook, Boutte has led Patriots wide receivers in snaps in each of the team's eight games. Boutte's average of 3.8 targets per game leaves something to be desired.
Still, with his explosive play ability and playing time floor, he profiles as a boom/bust deep league flex option and could be a player to target on the waiver wire heading into a Week 9 matchup with the Atlanta Falcons.
Troy Franklin, WR, Denver Broncos
The 22-year-old posted a few decent games early in the season, but has really come alive as of late. The two-score effort on Sunday will make Franklin the top waiver priority in plenty of fantasy formats.
The six-catch contest in Week 8 was the most for Franklin since Week 2. He has shown an ability to make plays and figures to be a viable flex option going forward.
Tyler Allgeier, RB, Atlanta Falcons
While the touchdown volume can't be ignored, the pace feels tenuous at best, as the 25-year-old garnered only six touches in the game and had three rushes for negative two yards prior to the TD plunge. For the season, the BYU product has registered just 3.4 yards per carry, compared to Robinson's 5.2 YPC. Had the score been closer and not 34-3 at the time of the touchdown run, Allgeier may not have even been in the game.
Nevertheless, he's become a potential Flex option due to his nose for the end zone, but fantasy managers need to be aware that there is a high chance of busting if he doesn't score. Things won't get easier in Week 9 on the road in New England against a defense allowing the fourth-fewest points per game (18.3), second-fewest rush yards per game (76.0), and second-fewest rush yards per attempt (3.5).
