Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 3:
Marquise Brown, WR, Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise Brown was on the injury report with an ankle injury but practiced fully all week and has been removed from the report ahead of Sunday's contest. Brown was expected to serve as the Chiefs WR1 with Xavier Worthy out against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2.
The speedster caught all five of his targets for 30 yards in Kansas City's loss last week. Brown's output was disappointing considering he earned 16 targets in Week 1 once Worthy exited the game. With Worthy officially questionable to play against the New York Giants on Sunday night, Brown could revert to his WR2 role in the offense. Despite having a less featured role, Brown could still have a good game against a Giants defense that was carved up by the Dallas Cowboys last week. Both CeeDee Lamb and Jake Ferguson had nine catches and at least 78 yards against the Giants secondary in Week 2.
This Week 3 matchup could be what the Chiefs need to finally wake up their offense and Brown should be heavily involved. Brown is ranked WR42 in our RotoBaller Half-PPR rankings, making him a deeper league flex option this week.
Jake Browning, QB, Cincinnati Bengals
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jake Browning will get the start in Week 3 versus the Vikings. With Joe Burrow (toe) out at least three months, Browning could remain in the role for the rest of the 2025 campaign. The 29-year-old took over in the Week 2 narrow win over the Jags after Burrow went down, finishing with 241 yards off 21-for-32 passing (65.6%). Although he added two touchdowns through the air, he also tossed three picks.
With Cincinnati sitting at 2-0, Browning will try to keep the team in the win column on Sunday. The signal-caller started seven times in 2023, throwing for 1,868 yards, 11 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. While his statistical contributions weren't the worst, there was certainly room for improvement. With so many ailing quarterbacks in Week 3, Browning is worth starting in Superflex formats, considering he has Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Chase Brown in his arsenal.
He can also provide value for those participating in DFS contests. However, Browning may not be the safest option in single-QB setups. That won't change moving ahead unless he proves he can be more productive and mistake-free.
Juwan Johnson, TE, New Orleans Saints
New Orleans Saints tight end Juwan Johnson has been one of the biggest fantasy surprises to start the season, ranking as the No. 2 tight end in PPR scoring through the first two weeks.
He has totaled 13 receptions for 125 yards and a touchdown on 20 targets from quarterback Spencer Rattler. Johnson could see another busy day against the Seahawks, who have allowed 108 yards and two touchdowns to tight ends through their first two games.
The breakout New Orleans Saints' veteran is ranked as the No. 7 tight end on RotoBaller and remains a strong TE1 option heading into his Week 3 road matchup at the Seattle Seahawks.
Mike Evans, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans hasn't experienced the kind of start that many fantasy managers had hoped. Through two games, Evans has hauled in 10 of his 19 targets for 107 yards with zero touchdowns. Mr. Consistent hasn't quite been himself early in the season, but fantasy managers shouldn't lose hope.
Evans is heading into a fantastic matchup against the New York Jets in Week 3. A defensive unit that had absolutely no answers for the Buffalo Bills last week. It's also worth noting that the Bucs are still without Chris Godwin (ankle) and Jalen McMillan (neck) right now. Also, rookie wideout Emeka Egbuka (groin) is listed as questionable for Week 3.
That being said, Evans is looking like the only healthy option in the passing game right now. Fantasy managers should continue to ride with Evans as a WR1 this week.
Romeo Doubs, WR, Green Bay Packers
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs caught a touchdown pass in Week 2 against the Commanders and looks to build off that momentum when the Packers head to Cleveland to face off with the Browns in Week 3.
Doubs has been Green Bay's most consistent route runner at the receiver position, as he's not rotated as much as some of the other secondary receivers like Matthew Golden and Dontayvion Wicks. With the injury to Jayden Reed (clavicle, foot) and Tucker Kraft (knee) being questionable after a Thursday injury in practice, Doubs may be needed much more by the Packers for receiving production in Week 3.
He's hard to trust as an inconsistent receiving option, but with the pass-catchers in Green Bay a bit more thinned out this week, Doubs could be in line for a higher fantasy floor this week as a WR4 with low-end flex upside.
