Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 2:
Dalton Kincaid, TE, Buffalo Bills
Buffalo Bills tight end Dalton Kincaid got the scoring kicked off in Week 1 on Sunday Night Football in a wild 41-40 come-from-behind victory over the Baltimore Ravens. Kincaid found the end zone for the first time in 2025, giving hope to his fantasy managers that this could be a true breakout campaign after he found paydirt a combined four times in his first two seasons.
The 25-year-old caught all four of his targets for 48 yards and the touchdown on the night, averaging 12 yards per reception. Meanwhile, fellow TE Dawson Knox caught both of his targets for only 20 yards in a game where both offenses marched up and down the field at will.
Kincaid's 15-yard touchdown grab came on the opening drive, but he didn't do much else the rest of the night. It was a good first game for Kincaid, but Knox's presence will continue to limit his overall fantasy upside heading into Week 2 versus the New York Jets, a division rivalry game.
Dallas Goedert, TE, Philadephia Eagles
Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert (knee) is dealing with a knee sprain that could leave the Eagles without their receptions leader for Sunday's trip to Kansas City. While the injury isn't expected to sideline him long--if at all--his missed practice time is notable for a passing game that must improve after totaling just 152 yards in Week 1.
If Dallas Goedert ends up sitting, Grant Calcaterra would likely see elevated snaps at tight end, and the target load would tilt further toward A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Jahan Dotson, and Saquon Barkley.
Against a disciplined Chiefs defense, losing Goedert would stress Philadelphia's short and intermediate game and put added pressure on Jalen Hurts to find rhythm early. UPDATE: Goedert officially missed Wednesday's practice.
Evan Engram, TE, Denver Broncos
Denver Broncos tight end Evan Engram (calf) was forced to make an early exit from Sunday's season opener against the Tennessee Titans. Engram was pulled out of the contest with a calf injury and didn't return.
Now, Engram will open the week as a limited participant in practice on Wednesday. It doesn't sound like the injury is too serious, so the Broncos are probably just being extra cautious.
Barring any setbacks, Evan Engram should be out there for the Denver Broncos versus the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2.
Mark Andrews, TE, Baltimore Ravens
Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews was a massive disappointment for any fantasy managers who had him in their starting lineups in Week 1. In the team's 41-40 loss to the Buffalo Bills, Andrews was targeted only once for a five-yard catch. What's even more head-scratching is that he had just one target with fellow TE Isaiah Likely (foot) inactive.
Likely hasn't returned to practice this week and doesn't appear to be on track to make his 2025 debut in Week 2 this Sunday against the division-rival Cleveland Browns, but will Andrews be able to get more involved?
The Browns gave up just one reception for 14 yards to Bengals tight end Mike Gesicki in their Week 1 loss, but the Ravens figure to get Andrews more involved this weekend in the passing game, especially if Likely is out again. Despite his Week 1 dud, Andrews should be considered a top-10 TE in fantasy in one of the best offenses in football.
Jake Tonges, TE, San Francisco 49ers
With the San Francisco 49ers placing All-Pro tight end George Kittle (hamstring) on the IR on Tuesday, the team is left with only Luke Farrell and Jake Tonges at the position. While fullback Kyle Juszczyk could be asked to handle an expanded role, it was the fourth-year tight end Tonges who stepped in on Sunday following Kittle's departure due to a hamstring injury.
Tonges made the first three catches of his NFL career, including a 4-yard TD pass with under two minutes to play. With quarterback Brock Purdy (shoulder, toe) and wide receiver Jauan Jennings (shoulder) also banged up, the 49ers' offense may look entirely different heading into Week 2. While the game plan will continue to be funneled directly through Christian McCaffrey, the team will be looking for contributions wherever they can get them, and Tonges could be in line for his first career start.
Although Jake Tonges' effectiveness could be capped in an offense led by Mac Jones, desperate fantasy managers can throw a waiver dart in hopes of volume by necessity.
