Tyler Locklear Expected to Miss Rest of Season
Tyler Locklear (elbow) is expected to miss the rest of the season with an injured left elbow. Locklear landed on the 10-day IL on Monday after colliding with Boston Red Sox catcher Connor Wong on Sunday. The Diamondbacks are still determining the severity of Locklear's injury, but with little time left in the season, they're likely to shut him down. Acquired from the Seattle Mariners in July in a deal for third baseman Eugenio Suarez, the 24-year-old Locklear struggled to a .175/.267/.262 line with three homers, six RBI, 11 runs scored, and three stolen bases in 116 plate appearances this season. He figures to vie for a regular role next spring, but in the meantime, Ildemaro Vargas could finish 2025 as the Diamondbacks' primary first baseman.
