Lourdes Gurriel Jr. to Have ACL Surgery on Thursday
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (knee) will undergo surgery this Thursday to fix the torn ACL in his knee, according to Francys Romero. Gurriel is expected to be facing a nine- to 10-month recovery, which means he's not going to be ready for the start of the 2026 campaign. Depending on how his rehab goes, the 31-year-old veteran might be able to return just before the All-Star break in mid-July next year. He injured his knee back on Sept. 2 while trying to avoid a collision in the left-center gap with Blaze Alexander and had to be carted off the field. The Cuban outfielder was once again a solid source of power in 2025 in his third year in the desert before getting hurt, slashing .248/.295/.418 but with a career-low .713 OPS, 19 homers, 80 RBI, a career-high 10 steals, and 52 runs in 129 games played. Jake McCarthy should see most of the starts in left in Arizona the rest of the way.
