Packers GM "Hopeful" Jayden Reed Will be Ready for Week 1
Jayden Reed (foot) will be ready for the team's Week 1 contest against the division-rival Detroit Lions on Sunday, Sept. 7. Reed is "trending the right way." The 25-year-old has been dealing with a lingering foot injury this summer, and although he has yet to return to practice, he did ditch his walking boot and should be able to play in the regular-season opener if he gets back on the practice field next week. Green Bay's receiving corps is especially banged up going into the season, with Christian Watson (knee) on the PUP list and Romeo Doubs (back) and Dontayvion Wicks (calf) also dealing with nagging issues. When healthy, Reed can score on the ground or through the air anytime he touches the ball, but injuries and inconsitent usage have made him a boom/bust WR4/flex fantasy asset. UPDATE: Reed returned to practice on Wednesday and said he started running routes a few days ago. Monday was his first practice since being in a walking boot. He still can't run routes pain-free and feels it mostly when he plants his foot and cuts. Reed said Week 1 is still up in the air, but it was a big step for him to return to practice.
