Tampa Bay Rays outfield prospect Theo Gillen (finger) was placed on the Single-A seven-day injured list on Saturday with a broken middle finger on his left hand. It appears to have happened on an attempted steal during Single-A Charleston's game on August 14. This will be the second time this season that Gillen will hit the IL, having missed time earlier this season due to a calf injury. The Rays' second-ranked prospect was having a solid year for the RiverDogs, hitting .267 with a strong .433 OBP thanks to a robust 19.8 percent walk rate, and getting on base so much allowed him to use his speed, tallying 36 steals in 73 games. He was doing this all at just 19 years old, making it all the more impressive. The 2024 first-rounder should progress up the minor league ladder next year, but he's still likely a few years away from the majors. With a strong hit tool, patient approach, plenty of speed, and a little pop in his bat, dynasty managers should be keeping an eye on him.--Jarod RuppRead More News
