Michael Massey to Begin Rehab Assignment Saturday
Michael Massey (ankle, wrist, back) will begin a Triple-A rehab assignment on Saturday, the team announced. Massey went on the 10-day injured list with a sprained ankle back on June 7, but other issues have set him back in the two months since then. He suffered a hairline wrist fracture on a hit by pitch on June 29, which forced the Royals to shut him down. Massey then restarted a rehab assignment, but the Royals had to remove him from it Aug. 2 after he experienced back tightness. After a recent injection, Massey will attempt to work his way back to the majors once again. The 27-year-old has hit an unsightly .202/.221/.258 with two home runs in 209 plate appearances this season.
