Hello, Rotoballers! I hope everyone is doing well and is ready for another exciting year of PGA DFS. Showdown has returned for another season on DraftKings alongside the PGA Tour, and we’re here to help guide you, whether you’re looking to continue your journey from where you left off in 2024 or are new to this particular DFS format. The anticipation hung thick in the air today as second-round play came to a sudden halt due to lightning, with action poised to kick off again tomorrow at 7:30 AM ET.
Before the break, Cameron Young was lighting up the course with a 7-under, bogey-free round, with just three holes left to close out his second round. He currently leads the field at 14-under total. Close on his heels, Aaron Rai is ready to pounce, sitting at 13-under total and 6-under with five holes left in his second round. Mac Meissner and Sungjae Im are locked in a tie for third, both at 12-under. Sedgefield has given up a lot of low scores so far, and with rain forecasted late into the evening, the greens should be even more receptive tomorrow.
Unlike standard golf DFS, which covers the entire tournament, Showdown focuses on each round as an individual event. It's crucial to find players who excel on approach shots, but it’s also important to make roster decisions that provide ownership leverage by selecting riskier players who may not have been performing their best recently but could have a strong bounce-back round. In other words, this is a sprint, not a marathon.

Weather, Course Conditions, and Tee Times
Tomorrow's weather is predicted to be windier than today, which may help defend the course. In Round 1, the average score was 1.53 strokes under par, while in Round 2, it was 1.05 strokes under par, but there is still a considerable part of the field who haven't completed their round.
The cut is going to land at 3-under. Remember to check your lineups and make any changes before the 9:30 AM CT lock for Round 3!
Round 3 Strategy
The key to success in showdowns is to look for ball strikers who can have a standout putting performance. Having two exceptional putting days in a row is quite challenging, so we should focus on golfers who have been consistent with their approach shots and created birdie opportunities but fell short in converting them.
It’s also beneficial to target players who need to improve their position on the leaderboard, as they often push harder on moving day. Additionally, golfers who have shown some positive form in the first two rounds are great candidates to consider.
Keep in mind that ownership levels tend to decrease as the morning's first tee time approaches, so identifying players who are likely to bounce back is crucial for achieving significant wins.

Favorite Play: Ben Griffin has posted consecutive rounds of 3-under 67, including a hole out from 98 yards on the ninth hole (his 18th hole of the day). So far, Griffin's approach play hasn't been impressive, losing 0.51 strokes on approach in Round 1 and gaining 0.43 in Round 2, but he's been outstanding off the tee and rolling the rock PHENOMENALLY well. Through two rounds, he has gained 1.552 strokes off the tee and hit 75% of fairways. On the greens, he's been even more impressive, gaining 4.173 strokes putting and averaging just 1.64 putts per green in regulation. Whenever he finds the green, he's converting birdie opportunities, making him a player I want in my lineups.

Favorite Play: Harry Hall has been a wizard around the greens and with the flat stick through the first two rounds. He's gained 0.914 strokes around the green and 5.022 strokes putting. While he hasn't executed on approach, hitting only 63.33% of greens in regulation, he's still found a way to make birdies and save pars. He's averaging 1.61 putts per green in regulation, and the favorable conditions should allow him to stick more greens. We know Hall has the capability of going low if he can hit a few more greens and stay hot with the putter.

Favorite Play: Denny McCarthy birdied his final hole of the day to get to 4-under and secure a weekend tee time. He's been outstanding on approach and avoided bogeys through the first two rounds, exactly what we've come to expect from him week in and week out. BUUUUUT he has been uncharacteristically poor with the putter so far, losing 1.337 strokes putting in the second round. Despite gaining 2.449 strokes on approach through the first two rounds, I can't remember the last time we saw him lose almost 1.5 strokes putting in any round. He's a prime bounce-back candidate, and most of my lineups will likely include shares.

Favorite Play: J.T. Poston wasn't terrific in Round 1, losing 0.71 strokes on approach and 0.70 strokes around the green. However, he still managed to post a 3-under 67 by gaining 2.59 strokes putting. In Round 2, he bounced back in a big way by executing on approach and staying hot with the flat stick. He gained 2.02 strokes on approach and 1.28 strokes putting in the second round. Over the first two rounds, he has dropped 10 birdies while only carding six bogeys. I’m taking my chances on Poston tomorrow because he has been solid on approach, capitalized on birdie opportunities, and avoided bogeys.

Favorite Play: Lanto Griffin has experienced a classic tale of two halves so far. In the first round, he lost 0.529 strokes on approach and 1.152 strokes putting, but he gained 1.165 strokes around the green and 0.990 strokes off the tee. His second round told a different story; he gained 1.778 strokes on approach and 2.559 strokes putting; however, he lost 1.058 strokes around the green and 0.169 strokes off the tee. Over the first two rounds, he has hit 71.43% of fairways and 75% of greens in regulation, but has only converted seven birdies. On a positive note, he has recorded just three bogeys. If he can replicate his strong approach play from today, let's hope he can capitalize and sink a few more birdies.

Guy I'm Playing That You Shouldn't
This will be an every-week addition to my article where I'll pick a golfer who I believe has shown he can go nuclear but has every chance he could dud and should generally be reserved for the largest field GPP tournaments.
Harry Higgs - was excellent with his approach play in Round 1, gaining 1.271 strokes on approach and hitting 88.89% of greens in regulation while only carding two bogeys. He still has eight holes left to finish his second round, but he's kept a clean card so far. If he keeps his approach play dialed in and continues hitting greens, he's going to have plenty of birdie opportunities. He could be a lower-owned golfer who gets hot with the putter and goes low. This is exactly the type of player we are looking for in this section of the article
