Texas Rangers infielder/outfielder Josh Smith (hamstring) is not in their lineup for Wednesday's game against the Kansas City Royals. It'll be the second straight day off for Smith, who's dealing with tightness in his upper left hamstring. Josh Jung will start at third base and bat sixth against Royals starter Kris Bubic. Manager Bruce Bochy said Tuesday that Smith shouldn't require a trip to the 10-day injured list, but it's a situation worth monitoring. The versatile defender has been on a tear at the plate in June, having gone 20-for-53 (.377) with three homers, eight RBI, and 13 runs scored in 13 games.--Connor Byrne
