Adley Rutschman Homers in Orioles Defeat
Adley Rutschman homered in the fourth inning off Rays starter Ryan Pepiot, but that was all the offense the Birds could get going in their 7-1 loss to Tampa on Monday. Rutschman finished the game 1-for-4 with the homer, which was his eighth of the season. The 27-year-old backstop is still hitting only .233 on the season, but he has shown signs of coming around since the calendar flipped to June. In his 12 games this month, he is hitting .356 (16-for-45) with two doubles, three homers, and a .437 wOBA. His hard-hit rate and barrel rate are also trending up, so he could be set to continue to heat up headed into the summer after his very slow start to the season.
