Three top fantasy baseball prospects - Brady House, Samuel Basallo, Andrew Painter - that can make big impacts. These MLB prospects are waiver wire pickups or stashes.
Over the past two weeks, fantasy managers have seen several high-end prospects get the call to the big leagues. Boston promoted outfielder Roman Anthony, and the Brewers called up budding ace Jacob Misiorowski.
In this piece, we will look at two top arms at Triple-A and an infielder who recently earned the call this past weekend.
Should those players be left on the waiver wire, or should fantasy managers add them this weekend? Let's dive in!

Samuel Basallo, C, Baltimore Orioles
Current Level: Triple-A

2025 AAA stats: 43 G, .264/.371/.588, 6 2B, 14 HR, 25 SO, 44 BB
With Roman Anthony now in the majors, the top hitting prospect to stash for this season is Samuel Basallo. In 43 Triple-A games this season, Basallo has smashed 14 home runs with a .264/.371/.588 slash line. His quality of contact metrics has also been elite this season, with a 93.7 mph AVG EV, 56.4% hard-hit rate, and a 21.8% barrel rate.
Quality of contact metrics like that can help mask a 68% contact rate to some degree.
This is important to note as the young backstop struggled during his first taste of Triple-A last season. Across 21 contests with Norfolk in 2024, Basallo posted a modest .222/.267/.370 line with just three doubles and three round-trippers.

Basallo has been especially potent at the plate in the month of June, slashing .361/.439/.778 with five home runs in nine games. There's a fairly clear path to playing time for Basallo as well, which is surprising given how Baltimore has handled other prospects recently.
Basallo could slot in primarily at first base with Ryan O'Hearn sliding to right field and Ramon Laureano to the bench. Basallo could also play some DH and back up Adley Rutschman once or twice a week.

Andrew Painter, SP, Philadelphia Phillies
Current Level: Triple-A

After being viewed as the No. 2 pitching stash option right behind Chandler through most of the first half of the season, Painter has seen his stock drop slightly over the past few weeks. While that doesn't mean he is not in "must-stash" territory anymore, instead, he will likely have to wait until July to reach Philadelphia.
In his start on June 10, Painter was able to log five innings but allowed a hefty eight hits and six runs. He struck out four and did not allow a free pass. While the box score is not pretty, it is a good sign to see Painter continue to increase his workload. In his previous outing, he also struggled, allowing four runs and six hits.
However, Painter was able to bounce back in a big way on Sunday, tossing five shutout innings with just one hit and two walks. In this start, he struck out six batters.
Prior to that minor two-game skid, Painter held a strong 2.65 ERA with a 1.24 WHIP across his first 17 innings at the Triple-A level. During this stretch, the top prospect in Philadelphia struck out 20 batters and allowed just seven walks. Painter opened the campaign with Low-A and tossed 11 1/3 frames with a 3.97 ERA and a near-perfect 12:1 K:BB.
Earlier in June, Phillies manager Rob Thompson noted that it is "unlikely" that their budding ace gets the call to the big leagues before the All-Star break. In addition, given his recent slump, Painter is not putting himself in a position for an early call-up.
As a result, he is worth stashing in any 12+ team league for the time being. If he can continue to get himself back on track over his next few starts, he could push their hand.

Brady House, 3B, Washington Nationals
Current Level: MLB

2025 AAA stats: 65 G, .304/.353/.519, 15 2B, 13 HR, 41 RBI, 75 SO
In the midst of the Rafael Devers trade drama and social media frenzy Sunday evening, the Washington Nationals promoted one of their top prospects. Brady House from Triple-A. House will take over at the hot corner for the Nationals, taking over for the light-hitting Jose Tena, who was slashing .248/.325/.365 with a 96 wRC+.
Tena was optioned to Triple-A as well, which suggests that House should see the majority of the opportunities. In fact, on Monday evening, House was given the starting nod at the hot corner in his MLB debut. In this contest, House went 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status, but it appears the Nationals will give him close to an everyday role.
Brady House is getting called up.

In Triple-A, House was really finding a groove of late. Over his last 19 games, House was slashing .383/.419/.642 with six doubles and five home runs, pushing his season line to .304/.353/.519 in 65 games with 15 doubles and 13 home runs.
House is a bit on the aggressive side with below-average walk, zone contact, and overall contact rates, but there's above-average power in his profile with a 90.2 mph AVG EV, 45.7% hard-hit rate, and a 10.2% barrel rate.
This is important to note as Hose struggled during his first taste of Triple-A action during the 2024 campaign. Across a similar 54 games, House posted a modest .250/.280/.375 slash line with 10 doubles, six home runs, and a 68:7 K:BB. To see House double his long ball total and raise his AVG to .304 across a similar sample just one year later is very promising.

I'm questioning how much AVG House hits for initially, but the power should be there, and he should get plenty of opportunities for the Nationals this summer. He is worth adding in all 12-team formats.
