Denzel Clarke Exits With Shoulder Contusion on Friday
Denzel Clarke suffered a left shoulder contusion in Friday's contest against the Mariners when he sprinted full speed into the wall while attempting to make a catch on a Jorge Mateo fly ball in the fourth inning. The 25-year-old made the catch but was replaced in the sixth inning. It was a violent collision with the wall, but he initially stayed in the game, so hopefully the injury is not serious. The former fourth-round draft pick was slow out of the gate when he was called up, going 1-for-19 (.053) over is first six games, but since then he's gone 9-for-27 (.333) with a double, a home run, three RBI, six runs scored, and three steals. Seth Brown replaced Clarke on Friday and could draw the start on Saturday. For now, consider Clarke day-to-day.
