Tanner Houck to Resume Throwing on Friday
Tanner Houck (elbow) will resume throwing on Friday. Poor performance and a flexor-pronator strain landed Houck on the 15-day injured list last week, but he'll resume throwing heading into the weekend. It wouldn't be a surprise if the 28-year-old isn't ready to come off the IL when he's ready as the Red Sox look to figure out why he was so bad in his first nine starts after being a first-time All-Star in 2024. Before being put on the shelf, Houck had gone 0-3 with an 8.04 ERA (6.11 FIP), 1.69 WHIP, 32:17 K:BB, a league-high 39 earned runs, and 10 home runs allowed in 43 2/3 innings. In mixed fantasy leagues, most managers have likely already dropped Houck after his placement on the IL.
