Andres Gimenez Resumes Running
Andres Gimenez (quadriceps) is doing baseball activities and resumed running on Monday, according to The Athletic's Mitch Bannon. Gimenez will likely need to go on a minor-league rehab assignment before he comes off the 10-day injured list to rejoin the Blue Jays. A quadriceps strain landed the 26-year-old infielder on the IL back on May 9. Barring a setback when he starts his rehab assignment, Gimenez could be back in the big leagues in around a week or two. The Venezuelan infielder is mostly known for his glove at the keystone, so he has minimal fantasy upside as a middle-infield option in deep-mixed and AL-only fantasy formats. He got off to a rough start in his first year in Toronto before his injury, slashing just .195/.273/.305 with three home runs, 10 RBI and nine steals in 36 games. Gimenez had back-to-back 30-steal campaigns in 2023 and 2024.
