Miami Marlins first baseman Jonah Bride remains out of the team's starting lineup on Tuesday against the division-rival New York Mets at Citi Field. Matt Mervis will start at first base and bat third for the Fish against Mets right-hander Clay Holmes. Bride has just two hits in his first 28 at-bats of the year with five walks and 10 strikeouts, so he'll start on the bench for the third straight game. Mervis, who hits from the left side, has gone 6-for-21 at the plate with two home runs, four RBI, three runs scored, two walks and nine strikeouts in his first seven games with the Marlins. The 29-year-old Bride will have to pick it up offensively when he gets his opportunities moving forward to avoid being benched most days. Mervis has one hit and an RBI in just two career at-bats against Holmes.--Keith Hernandez
