Jesus Luzardo 2025 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Looking To Regain Elite Performance With New Team
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Jesus Luzardo had an injury-riddled season for the Marlins in 2024, making only 12 starts while posting a 4.99 ERA and 1.25 WHIP. The Phillies acquired him this offseason, and he'll be looking to turn things around with his new team. Luzardo maintained a 29.6% whiff rate, which ranked in the 80th percentile, but overall, everything about his profile declined between 2023 and 2024. The most concerning decline was his dip in velocity, which likely contributed to the lack of effectiveness across the board. The good news is that his velocity has returned this spring, at least in his early appearances. The hurler has shown ace potential earlier in his career and has a chance to at least return to his 2023 self, who posted a 3.58 ERA and 208 strikeouts in 178 ⅔ innings. ATC is projecting him to go (9-8) with a 4.07 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and 147 strikeouts in 143 innings. He's worth taking a chance on as a sleeper at his current ADP of 262.
