Braelon Allen is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup option for running backs. Target him as a free agent add off waivers for Week 9 of the 2024 NFL season.

ANALYSIS: New York Jets running back Braelon Allen surprisingly handled 12 carries, rushing for 32 yards and a touchdown in the Jets' Week 8 loss to the New England Patriots. He really shouldn't be getting much work, but New York's offensive staff are incompetent.

He was lucky enough to get a goal line touchdown, but there's something curious going on with the Jets offense. They have been awful for years except when they get lead back Breece Hall going. He is the engine behind the offense, and their strange unwillingness to get him involved likely lost them the game.
Refusing to give your highly-talented RB1 the ball when he's averaging 5 yards per carry is an interesting choice. Allen had a nice stretch of games, but wasn't very effective in this one against a poor Patriots run defense, and Hall realized more success outside of the touchdown.
It remains unknown what the people calling the shots for Gang Green's O will do about the usage of their backs, but the presence of Hall strips Allen of any potential standalone value.
