Fantasy Football Injury Reports For NFL RBs: Week 5 Updates for Bijan Robinson, Jonathan Taylor, Nick Chubb, Jonathon Brooks

Nick Chubb - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL Injury News, DFS Lineup Picks

Fantasy football RB injury updates and reports for Week 5 (2024), as of October 2, including Bijan Robinson, Jonathan Taylor, Nick Chubb, and Jonathon Brooks.

Below is our fantasy football injuries report for running backs in Week 5, as of October 2. The injury statuses for various NFL running backs are up in the air for Week 5, including Bijan Robinson, Jonathan Taylor, Nick Chubb, and Jonathon Brooks.

As the fantasy football season continues, every decision, transaction, and lineup change matters. These are critical running back injuries to keep track of throughout the week. Being up-to-date on NFL injury news can give you an edge over your league mates in fantasy football.

To keep close tabs on all the news across the NFL, favorite or bookmark the fantasy football player news page, or download the free RotoBaller fantasy football mobile app with push notification alerts on all the latest news. Let's look at the updates for some running backs and see whether they may play in Week 5.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Bijan Robinson Injury Update

Robinson (hamstring) was estimated as a limited participant following Tuesday's walk-through. The star running back is worth monitoring as Thursday Night Football gets closer, but we're not currently too concerned about his status. If confirmed as active, Robinson would be a fantasy RB1.

Jonathan Taylor Injury Update

Taylor (ankle) was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain following Sunday's game. It's believed to be relatively mild and won't require an IR stint, but it's still very possible that Taylor will miss time. Trey Sermon would lead the Colts backfield if he can't play in Week 5.

Nick Chubb Injury Update

Chubb (knee) has been designated to return from the PUP list. The Browns running back can now practice with the team for up to 21 days. By the 21st day, the Browns will have to decide whether to activate Chubb from the PUP list or shut him down for the season. This development suggests that Chubb will return to game action around the middle of October.

Jonathon Brooks Injury Update

Brooks (knee) is getting closer to practicing but still has some hurdles to clear before he can be activated from the non-football injury list. That move won't happen this week, but he could return to the practice field in Week 6.

Christian McCaffrey Injury Update

McCaffrey (Achilles) has been diagnosed with Achilles tendonitis in both of his legs, creating additional uncertainty about his eventual return date. For now, managers have no choice but to stash McCaffrey on their bench or IR.

Austin Ekeler Injury Update

Ekeler (concussion) remains in concussion protocol but feels more like himself and is trending toward playing on Sunday against the Browns. His pass-catching skills make him an appealing fantasy RB3.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire Injury Update

Edwards-Helaire (illness) is expected to return to practice this week. He's currently on the non-football list but should be designated to return as soon as the Chiefs are ready to open his 21-day practice window. Given his potential to be Kansas City's starting running back, Edwards-Helaire should be viewed as a fantasy RB3.

Cordarrelle Patterson Injury Update

Patterson (ankle) could play in Week 5, head coach Mike Tomlin said on Tuesday. Patterson got banged up last Sunday, finishing the game against the Colts with 43 rushing yards and 19 receiving yards. He's off the fantasy radar with Jaylen Warren (knee) also trending toward playing.

Jaylen Warren Injury Update

Warren (knee) could play in Week 5, marking his return to the field after missing one game. Warren has been disappointing from a fantasy football perspective and can be dropped in most leagues with 10 or fewer teams.

Jeff Wilson Jr. Injury Update

Wilson (knee) injured himself during warmups ahead of Monday Night Football and ultimately did not register a touch in the prime-time contest. It's too early to tell whether he'll play in Week 5, but assuming Raheem Mostert (chest) is healthy, Wilson won't see enough volume to warrant any fantasy consideration.

Tyler Badie Injury Update

Badie (back), who was carted away from the sideline on a backboard this past Sunday, has demonstrated the movement of his arms and legs and is back in Denver with the team. He's still dealing with a back issue that could land him on IR, but more importantly, we're happy to hear that he's doing okay.

Nyheim Hines Injury Update

Hines (knee) is expected to practice soon, perhaps as early as this week. The 27-year-old has been on Cleveland's PUP list since last summer when was hit by a jet ski and tore his ACL. His exact role in Cleveland is unclear, but we're pretty confident Hines could contribute given his veteran presence and leadership.
