New York Rangers left wing Chris Kreider crushed the season opener on Thursday versus Buffalo, scoring two goals and bagging an assist in a 5-1 road victory. The 32-year-old became the sixth Ranger in history to hit at least five goals in season openers. He scored a power-play goal in the first period and notched a short-handed tally in the third. Kreider wrapped up his three-point night when he assisted Jacob Trouba on an empty-net goal. This was a great start to the season for Kreider and his line, as Mika Zibanejad collected three assists next to him. The two were joined by Kaapo Kakko, who led the team in power-play time with 2:51 and produced three shots on goal.--Taavi Pailk
