With all of the focus Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, and Jaylen Waddle receive from opposing defenses, the running game for Miami has become quite the revelation. Veteran Raheem Mostert started the party with three touchdowns in the first two games of the season. De’Von Achane joined the fiesta in Week 3 when the duo scored eight touchdowns. That game also marked a possible passing of the torch (although Mostert did rebound from a subpar Week 4 by scoring in Week 5).
Just as the picture was starting to become clear, several wrenches were thrown into the fold. Veteran Jeff Wilson Jr. (who was being drafted in fantasy football just behind Mostert before his injuries) is now in his 21-day practice window to come off of injured reserve. Also, the rookie sensation Achane is dealing with a knee injury which will likely place him on the IR list.
A backfield once supporting two players is now in flux and it may not be clear who fantasy managers should target.

What Did Jeff Wilson Jr. Accomplish In Week 5?
Jeff Wilson hasn't played a snap this season. Torso and thumb injuries sent the veteran to injured reserve before the season began.
In 2022, Wilson played eight games with the Dolphins (he was added midseason in a trade from San Francisco). Following his acquisition, Wilson split the backfield work with fellow ex-49er Raheem Mostert. In those final nine games (each back missed one game), Mostert ran for 439 yards while Wilson added 392.
Wilson's 21-day practice window has opened but that doesn't necessarily mean he'll be ready to see game action this week. Wilson was eligible to start practicing last week, but the team let him recover for a bit longer.
Is Jeff Wilson Jr. A Good Fantasy Football Pickup for Week 6?
Here's the hypothetical situation that has the highest odds of playing out: Jeff Wilson splits carries with Mostert until Achane returns. Ideally, that begins this weekend but fantasy managers will have to monitor Wilson's activation status.
Mostert is 31 years old with an extensive injury history, so Wilson could be a glorified lottery ticket running back. If Mostert were to sit on the bench alongside Achane, Wilson would be the lead back. Remember, Miami is currently the best offense in NFL history. Any time there's a chance to add a running back on the league's premier offense to a fantasy roster, it's a smart gamble.
Wilson is no Achane (who has been the RB1 over the last three weeks) so temper expectations. Still, we've seen the veteran produce in the junior varsity version of this offense last season.
Salvon Ahmed, who received a handful of snaps prior to the emergence of Achane, could also be a factor again. The fourth-year veteran was a healthy scratch for Week 5. Chris Brooks, an undrafted rookie from BYU, primarily plays special teams on the 53-man roster.
