Todd Gilliland's better-than-expected sophomore season is still going strong, as the Front Row Motorsports driver sits 23rd in points after 12 races with an average finish of 19.9. This is compared to his 28th-place points finish last season and average result of 23.2. This weekend at Darlington Raceway, Gilliland is continuing the trend of improving, as he put his #38 Ford in 15th place during practice on Saturday morning with a time of 29.797 seconds. Even more impressive, though, was Gillland's 30-lap average time of 30.989 seconds--which was 10th-best in the practice session despite Gilliland going out during the second session when the track was slower. In last year's first Darlington race, Gilliland came home a respectable 15th, and with how this #38 team is running this season, it wouldn't be surprising to see him do it again this weekend.--Jordan McAbee
