ANALYSIS: It is more than probable that Portland ends outside of the playoffs this season, and that means they will have no excuse for the remainder of the regular season to avoid playing the youngsters as much as possible, Shaedon Sharpe among them.
Sharpe has started the last two games with Portland boasting more injured players than you can count. In those two matchups, through Friday night games, Sharpe put up eerily similar numbers going for 24 points each time, scoring 4 three-point shots in each of those two games, and also putting up a combined 13 rebounds, five dimes, four steals, and one block.
A natural wing, Sharpe started those two games at the SG position and earned rave reviews for a rook. He hit 49 and 34 FP in those two contests respectively hoisting a season-high 19 FGA on Wednesday only to best that mark by one on Friday when he shot the rock 20 times hitting nine of those attempts for 24 points against the Bulls.
Sharpe was a flier when Portland took him early in the last draft, but if they want to know what they have in tow and what he can develop into, they'd be better playing them as many minutes as recently (40 and 38 in those two games) than leaving him on the pine, let alone in the final stretch of a season already lost.
