Devonte' Graham is worth considering as a fantasy basketball waiver wire pickup heading into Week 21 of the 2022-23 NBA season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 16% of leagues
ANALYSIS: This add might not have much value depending on what the Spurs do going forward and their season gone trash mightily. Devonte' Graham, as the veteran player he is, doesn't make much sense for them right now in their tanking race, but he's still a young guy under contract for a few seasons and that could help the team once the ball gets rolling next year.
The Spurs removed Graham from the rotation after their game on March 5th when he played 24 minutes scoring 14 points, grabbing two rebounds, and dishing out four dimes. In the month he's spent in SAS after the Pelicans traded him, Graham has appeared in 10 games averaging a per-game 15-2-4 line while starting three outings.
Graham is more of a speculative addition at this point. If the Spurs are forced to play him because of injuries or just unplayable levels shown by their other two lead guards (Tre Jones and Malaki Branham), then adding Graham now might be the only chance you have at doing so ROS.
If the Spurs opt to leave him out entirely from the rotation, well, then this goes nowhere and you can always release Graham without losing anything.
Graham, if/when playing, is a must-have player in pretty much every deeper league even if he is limited to an off-the-pine role. As a reserve in NOLA/SAS, and looking at games in which he played at least 15 minutes, Graham averaged a per-game 8-2-3 stat line with 1.0 stocks on top of that.
