New York Mets closer Edwin Diaz said that he "won't pitch back-to-back days" in this year's World Baseball Classic for Team Puerto Rico. Diaz won't overexert himself before the start of the 2023 season, which is music to the ears of the Mets and fantasy managers alike. The 28-year-old right-hander is one of the most dominant high-leverage relievers in the game and is likely to be the first closer off the board in fantasy drafts. The two-time All-Star had a career-best 1.31 ERA (0.90 FIP), 0.84 WHIP, 32 saves and a ridiculous 118 strikeouts in just 62 relief innings in 2022. Not only is Diaz the best strikeout artist among all pitchers in the game, but he's closing games out for one of the best teams in baseball.--Keith Hernandez
