Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Has Wrist Surgery
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (wrist) dealt with left wrist issues this year and underwent successful surgery on the wrist on Thursday with Dr. Graham in Ohio. Gurriel is expected to be ready for spring training next year. The 29-year-old Cuban outfielder missed the final month of the season due to a left hamstring strain and was left off the roster for the Wild-Card Series loss to the Seattle Mariners. Gurriel finished his 2022 season by hitting a strong .291/.343/.400 with five home runs, 52 RBI, 52 runs scored and three stolen bases in 493 plate appearances over 121 games. His five homers were the fewest in his fifth major league season, but perhaps his lingering wrist issue was to blame for the lack of pop.
