Shane Bieber An Option To Pitch In Game 5
2 years agoCleveland Guardians manager Terry Francona said that starting pitcher Shane Bieber will pitch on Tuesday in Game 5 of the American League Division Series against the New York Yankees "if we empty our bullpen." If Bieber doesn't pitch on Tuesday and the Guardians advance to face the Houston Astros in the AL Championship Series, he will start Game 1 on Wednesday. The 27-year-old right-hander last pitched for Cleveland in Game 2 against the Yankees on Oct. 14, allowing two earned runs on five hits while walking three and striking out seven in 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision in an eventual 4-2 loss. He's allowed three earned runs on eight hits while walking four and striking out 15 in 13 1/3 innings in his two starts against the Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays so far this postseason.
