The Kansas City Royals reinstated first baseman Carlos Santana (ankle) from the 10-day injured list on Friday. He will be batting cleanup and slotting in as the team's designated hitter for Friday's game at Coors Field against left-hander Kyle Freeland and the Colorado Rockies. Catcher Sebastian Rivero was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.
