NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 5/3/22

Yesterday could not have been a better start to the 2021 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. Tonight, we will hope for a similar outcome with a few tough matchups and a few promising matchups. I will do my best in guiding you through this four-game slate on DraftKings and FanDuel starting at 7:00 p.m. EST.

There are no teams playing on the second-half of a back-to-back. The Predators and their 3.01 GA will hope to avoid the Avalanche in Denver, while the Panthers and their  4.06 GF will look to take down the Capitals at home.

Vegas Odds for the Day

NHL DFS Goalies

Sergei Bobrovsky- DK $8.2K || FD $8.3K

Opponent - Washington Capitals

This is the playoffs and every shot matters. However, the Capitals have not been the strongest at offensive efficiency, ranking 25th in the league for shots to goal conversion. This series will be a fast-paced matchup and Bob should see plenty of shots. It is a matter of him having the confidence to keep calm and collected in the crease.

Others To Consider (Cash/GPP): Kuemper (DK $8.3K || FD $8.1K), Markstrom (DK $8.1K || FD $7.5K)

NHL DFS Centers

Sam Bennett-DK $4.2K || FD $6.4K

Opponent - Washington Capitals

This is the moment that Bennett can truly shut down all of the critics he has had over the years. Bennett has taken his career to new heights with the Florida Panthers and his line will be integral to the Panthers’ run in the postseason. Opposing pivot Niklas Backstrom is not the same anymore and he will not have the speed to keep up with Bennett and company. Over Bennett's last five games, he has 1 goal, 2 assists and 16 shots.

Jeff Carter- DK $3.3K || FD $5.1K

Opponent - New York Rangers

Carter is the x-factor for the Penguins. The veteran center has proved time and time again that he is ageless and he can still provide and hold down his own line. Rangers’ pivot Filip Chytil has still not proven himself entirely and neither have his linemates. If the Penguins are to win this series, Carter and his wingers will be one of the biggest reasons why. Over Carter's last five games, he has 1 goal, 3 assists and 8 shots. In his last two games against the Rangers, he had 8 shots and 4 blocked shots.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): MacKinnon (DK $8.6K || FD $10K), Barkov (DK $7.5K || FD $9.2K), Kadri (DK $6.9K || FD $8.2K), Compher (DK $2.8K || FD $4.5K), Eller (DK $2.5K || FD $3.9K)

NHL DFS Wings

Gabriel Landeskog- DK $4.7K || FD $7.5K

Opponent - Nashville Predators

The Avalanche is a blessed team to get the injured players back at the perfect time. Landeskog tops the list of that crew. The top-line winger, now second-line winger is a pivotal player on both sides of the puck and luckily for him, his first-round matchup loves to play his style of game. This is by far the easiest "lock" of the night. In his last five games prior to the injury, he had 1 goal, 3 assists, 17 shots and 3 blocked shots.

Claude Giroux- DK $4.1K || FD $6.3K

Opponent - Washington Capitals

The Capitals have a lot on their hands when addressing the powerhouse the Florida Panthers are. However, there is one x-factor that they have had trouble with before in the playoffs and it is x-Flyer and captain Claude Giroux. The veteran has brought instant chemistry, leadership, guidance and much more to the young core the Panthers have and it has made them a dangerous group. The most important part about Giroux though is his role on the second-line with teammates Jonathan Huberdeau and Sam Bennett. Giroux does not need much to hit value and he has incredible vision that could be setting up goals all series. In his last five games, he has 1 goal, 6 assists and 18 shots.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Tkachuk (DK $5.6K || FD $8.5K), Rust (DK $4.8K || FD $7K), Nichushkin (DK $4.5K || FD $6.5K), Benn (DK $3.4K || FD $4.7K),Verhaeghe (DK $2.8K || FD $5K)

NHL DFS Defensemen

Noah Hanifin- DK $4.3K || FD $5.3K

Opponent - Dallas Stars

Calgary has rotated the same two defenseman – Hanifin and Andersson – on the top power-play all season and Hanifin is the lucky one to be riding it into the playoffs. The Boston College product has been finding himself since his arrival in Calgary, however, there is still much to be improved. He has been producing left, right and center as of recent with 2 goals, 2 assists, 12 shots and 6 blocked shots over his last five appearances. Calgary’s defense will need to step up an entire notch if they want to succeed in the playoffs and Hanifin is the guy to push them forward.

Mike Matheson- DK $3.1K || FD $4.2K

Opponent - New York Rangers

Matheson has once again been promoted to the second power-play role and he is still providing his consistent peripherals with it. The series against the Rangers will be difficult as has been the entire season for the Penguins when playing the blue shirts. However, Matheson will play a key role on both sides of the puck and he shows it every game. In his last five appearances, he has 2 assists, 13 shots and 8 blocked shots.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Josi (DK $8.6K || FD $7.8K), Ekblad (DK $6.4K || FD $6.4K), Klingberg (DK $4.1K || FD $4.9K), Suter (DK $3.4K || FD $3.7K), Miller(DK $2.9K || FD $3.7K)
