Will Jayden Reed be healthy enough to play for the Green Bay Packers in Week 1? Andy breaks down the latest Jayden Reed injury news for fantasy football.
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed has been a difficult wideout to trust in fantasy football. During his rookie season, Reed emerged as a potential breakout star but struggled to find much consistency asd a sophomore.
Earlier in the offseason, Reed sustained a foot injury, which could hinder him from suiting up in their season opener against the Detroit Lions.
Will Reed be healthy before the 2025 season begins? Will he play in Week 1?

Will Jayden Reed Play In Week 1?
According to Jason Wilde of CBS Madison, the Packers wideout is currently dealing with a Jones fracture in his left foot. While this injury is quite common among athletes, it often requires surgery.
However, Wolfe noted that the wide receiver is not intending to undergo surgery and will plan on suiting up in Week 1. While this may excite fantasy managers, this could be a negative sign for his season outlook.
Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status, but it appears Reed has not only shed his walking boot but is trending toward suiting up in their Week 1, NFC North duel against the Detroit Lions.
Jayden Reed Jones fracture thoughts -
•If the injury actually is a Jones fracture, it has to be pretty small to the point where the team believes it will heal on its own
•It takes ~2-4 weeks for soft calluses to form & fill the fracture site, then 4+ weeks for it to harden &… https://t.co/q5lwvLJ2To pic.twitter.com/lbe1KpstmK

Jayden Reed Fantasy Football Outlook
While it is a great sign to see Reed trending toward playing in Week 1, fantasy managers should pump the brakes on his outlook. Given that he is willing to play through this potentially serious injury, there is a significant concern that the Packers may opt to reduce his workload throughout the season, especially in the early going.
In addition, Reed could also be at a significant risk of suffering a setback due to the potentially serious factor of this foot fracture.
In the 2025 NFL Draft, the Packers wasted little time improving their wide receiver room, selecting Matthew Golden out of Texas with their first-round selection. Golden will likely open the season as the team's clear without, given the time Reed has missed during the team's final practices.
Last season, tight end Tucker Kraft began to emerge, which could also limit Reed's upside, especially if his injury starts to linger.
During his rookie season in 2023, Reed took some time to find his footing and emerge as a league-winner down the stretch. From Weeks 10 through 18, Reed averaged an impressive 17.4 PPR points per game. During this stretch, the former second overall pick averaged 57.5 receiving yards per game and punched in seven total touchdowns.
In 2024, Reed immediately flashed upside, totaling 33.1 PPR points in their season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles. However, once Jordan Love began to slow down due to injury, the offense transitioned to a run-first game plan, which significantly hindered Reed's ceiling.

While his upside is still worth noting, given his current injury and high risk for a strict snap count or to suffer a re-injury, fantasy managers should instead pivot to Golden and Kraft in this offense. Reed is best to fade at his current ADP of 111.0 on Yahoo!
