Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco was the 251st overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Pacheco had a productive four-year career at Rutgers.
The young running back had 111 rushing attempts for 551 yards and three touchdowns as a freshman, finishing second on the team in rushing yards. Pacheco had only 35 fewer rushing yards than Raheem Blackshear despite having 32 fewer rushing attempts.
Meanwhile, the former Rutgers star saw his play pick up, starting in 2019. Pacheco had 169 rushing attempts for 729 yards and seven touchdowns that year. While he only played nine games the following season, the former Scarlet Knight had 116 rushing attempts for 515 yards and three touchdowns. Pacheco finished his college career totaling 167 rushing attempts for 647 yards and five touchdowns as a senior.

What Did Isiah Pacheco Accomplish As A Rookie?
Many didn’t have high expectations for Pacheco last year. The former Rutgers star was a seventh-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Furthermore, he was 12 picks away from going undrafted. However, none of that matters to Pacheco.
The rookie running back made the initial 53-man roster and never looked back. While he started the year third on the depth chart, Pacheco eventually took the starting role away from Clyde Edwards-Helaire.
Last year the former Rutgers star had 170 rushing attempts for 830 yards and five touchdowns. More importantly, he led the team in all three categories.
Will Isiah Pacheco Be Ready By Week 1?
Not only did Pacheco lead the Chiefs in every rushing category as a rookie, but he also played a critical role in their Super Bowl run. Yet, the former Rutgers star was playing through multiple injuries.
He suffered a torn labrum in his should at some point during the season. Then Pacheco suffered a finger fracture during the AFC Championship Game.
Yet, the former Rutgers star didn’t miss a game as a rookie. However, Pacheco did need offseason surgery on his hand and shoulder. While the second-year running back has been wearing a non-contact jersey in practice, the Chiefs believe he will be ready for Week 1.
