Whether you drafted a player in the early rounds, picked them up off waivers and held on to them while getting multiple solid games out of them, or just grabbed a player out of desperation due to lack of depth from being in a deep league or having a bunch of injuries, it's not fun to have hyper-inconsistency on your fantasy football rosters.
Sometimes, gambles don't pay off, and sometimes, "free" players who don't have much consistency become gambles to start. By the way, stop drafting rookies in the first two rounds in fantasy drafts, because you don't even know if they're the best rookie in the class and you're searching for an insane ceiling that you don't know they have.
Now that we've established that it might be a mistake to draft Boise State Broncos running back Ashton Jeanty in the first two rounds in 2025 fantasy football drafts, everyone will do it anyway, and ignore the cautionary tale that is Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. But let's dive into him and two other WRs that you could start in Week 16, and whether you should actually do it.
Should I Start Marvin Harrison Jr. for Fantasy Football?
Congrats if you made it this far instead of drafting a complete bust in the first or second round. Or maybe you just don't want to lose your league's Toilet Bowl. Harrison is the second priority in his team's passing offense after tight end Trey McBride. MHJr was targeted just six times last week, catching two passes for 32 yards.

The Cardinals are a run-first team facing the worst run defense in football. Let Harrison sit this one out. He's a risky start. This will be a James Conner smash game. Book it.
Should I Start Josh Downs for Fantasy Football?
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs is a very good football receiver. His quarterback, Anthony Richardson, is horribly inaccurate and inconsistent, and that's why Downs hasn't been very good for fantasy football these last few weeks. And the QB situation probably won't change soon.

Downs is good enough to dice up most coverages, but Richardson is bad against basically everything, which is why the matchup isn't that important. JD is a deep-league WR3/FLEX option. Looking at the completion percentage by a team is very damning for ARich, and that's with a slight boost in numbers from the Joe Flacco days.
Should I Start Romeo Doubs for Fantasy Football?
No. Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs does not get enough targets. He does not get the ball enough to be a good player to start, and it's that simple. He has solid games where he gets touchdowns, but predicting receiving TDs on an offense that spreads the ball around as much as Green Bay's does is simply impossible.
Since week 7, the Saints have allowed the 2nd most receiving ypg to 20+ air yard targets (72.4).
Christian Watson, since week 5, has the 2nd most 20+ yard receptions (9) and 3rd most targets (18) on these.
We could see Love and Watson connect on a couple of deep balls on Monday…

We might see a cool Christian Watson game, but it's still just too hard to predict. And the New Orleans Saints, who the Packers will face in Week 16, have a poor run defense. We may not see many pass attempts from quarterback Jordan Love -- you have to imagine that GB head coach Matt LaFleur will call a ton of run plays.
This is especially likely since the Saints' offense has been destroyed by injuries and is unlikely to score much against a stiff Packers defense. So we have to imagine LaFleur will keep grinding running back Josh Jacobs' bones to dust with a billion carries. They'll be lucky if he stays healthy throughout the playoffs.
Anyways, it's probably not a week you should start Doubs.
