Fantasy Football Draft Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider drafting in 2025:
Rashid Shaheed - WR, New Orlean Saints
New Orleans Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed lived up to his sleeper label to begin the 2024 season. The deep threat was a WR2 through six weeks before a torn meniscus ended his season, despite a scoreless Week 3 effort. Shaheed led all wide receivers in air yards share, finished third in average depth of target (17.6), and fifth in yards per reception (17.5). Five of those six games were with Derek Carr under center.
The veteran quarterback retired in the offseason, leaving a hodge-podge quarterback room in New Orleans. Second-round rookie Tyler Shough is the favorite to start Week 1, with Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener competing for the job.
Shaheed and fellow wide receiver Chris Olave are thus being downgraded. Shaheed is a low-end WR4 in the rankings and can be found in double-digit rounds of redraft leagues. That's great value for a receiver who needs one big play to finish inside the top 24 in any given week. He should be a priority late-round target in best ball formats.
Zay Flowers - WR, Baltimore Ravens
Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers is still receiving considerable hype in 2025 fantasy football drafts. Still, there's not much reason to draft him inside of the first five rounds. He looked to be on a breakout trajectory early in the 2024 season, but ended up with fewer PPR fantasy points per game than he did in 2023.
He had some rushing upside in his rookie season that partially evaporated, and while he had over 200 more receiving yards, he finished with fewer catches and fewer total touchdowns. Flowers isn't a red zone weapon, and the team has running back Derrick Henry, quarterback Lamar Jackson, and tight end Mark Andrews to take care of goal-line duties anyway.
You pretty much see what you get with Flowers at this point. His lack of size will make it difficult for him to become a weapon at the goal line moving forward, and the Ravens offense distributes the ball around heavily between its pass-catchers.
Chris Godwin - WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin (ankle) has had a productive eight-year career. The 29-year-old assembled three straight 1,000-yard receiving seasons heading into the 2024 campaign. It appeared he was well on his way to another. However, Godwin suffered an ankle injury, ending his season after seven games. Before going down with the injury, he had a quality year, racking up 50 catches for 576 yards and five touchdowns, tying his mark from 2021.
Unfortunately, Godwin has been working his way back to health ever since. The 2017 No. 84 overall pick is currently listed as the No. 26 fantasy wideout for standard leagues in RotoBaller's 2025 fantasy football rankings. He holds the No. 23 spot for those participating in PPR formats. There's no guarantee Godwin will be ready for Week 1. There's also a chance he may be limited during training camp and early in the season.
In addition, the Buccaneers have a new offensive coordinator, Josh Grizzard, as Liam Coen is now the head coach in Jacksonville. Godwin could have trouble meeting his ADP expectations, especially if he gets off to a slow start. On the other hand, fantasy managers shouldn't look past him if he is still available in fantasy drafts beyond the fourth round, even if it means stashing him until he's back to full strength.
Darnell Mooney - WR, Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Darnell Mooney fell just eight receiving yards short of his second career 1,000-yard campaign in 2024. The former Chicago Bear earned a 21.3% target share in his first year with the Dirty Birds and racked up 64 receptions for 922 yards and five scores. With tight end Kyle Pitts continuing to disappoint and the Falcons deciding not to add significant target competition this offseason, Mooney could once again operate as the team's No. 2 option in the passing attack behind Drake London.
It's tough to know what to expect from first-year full-time starting quarterback Michael Penix Jr., but he attempted 33.3 passes per game in his three starts a season ago, which is encouraging for Falcons' pass-catchers in fantasy. Mooney finished last year's campaign as the WR31 in PPR setups, and he's going around the WR50 range in early drafts. While he doesn't have a WR1 ceiling, he should be a playable flex option, and a WR2 finish is in the range of outcomes if Penix exceeds expectations.
Consider the Tulane product an intriguing flyer in the double-digit rounds of fantasy drafts. Update: Mooney is out a "few weeks" with a shoulder injury. He injured his shoulder while trying to make a diving catch during practice. Mooney will likely miss most of training camp with his status for Week 1 in doubt, dropping his fantasy stock heading into upcoming fantasy drafts.
