Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Player Outlooks
A.J. Brown, Philadelphia Eagles
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown is positioned for yet another strong season after squeezing 1,079 yards and seven touchdowns out of 67 catches (97 targets). He missed nearly a month due to a hamstring strain early in the year, but was the PPR WR5 between Weeks 6-17 with 194 fantasy points. However, if you shift the scope to a per-game basis, then he becomes the WR17 in that same window. This team's starting 11 is largely unchanged from their championship campaign, so the infrastructure to run first and hammer teams on the ground remains.
They were second in the NFL with 179.3 rush yards per game and had the fourth-lowest passing tally at 187.9 yards per game. However, Brown's 31.1% team target share was the second-highest mark among WRs, and his 41.6% share of team passing yards led the NFL. With no additional competition, Brown should find himself once again near the top of those leaderboards. As a result, his RotoBaller rank and early ADP appropriately land him as a top-20 pick for fantasy managers to build around.

Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
We all know what to expect from Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans at this point in his career. He'll total over 1,000 receiving yards and likely catch double-digit touchdowns. Evans has reached the 1,000-yard mark in each of his 11 NFL seasons while catching double-digit touchdowns in four of the past five years. The six-time Pro Bowl caught 74 passes for 1,004 yards and 11 touchdowns across 14 games with the Buccaneers last season.
Even though the 31-year-old missed three games due to a hamstring injury, he was still a top fantasy option. He finished as the WR9 in half-PPR formats and averaged 14.5 half-PPR fantasy points. Fantasy managers should expect similar numbers for the veteran in 2025. He will remain Baker Mayfield's favorite target in the passing game, and Evans has shown no signs of slowing down at his age.
As a result, he will enter the season as a high-end WR2 in most fantasy formats. The 6-foot-5 wideout has finished as a top-16 fantasy wide receiver in half-PPR formats in seven straight seasons.
- Joey Pollizze
Courtland Sutton, Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos didn't use significant draft capital on, and didn't trade for, a wide receiver that is set to seriously challenge Sutton as the team's clear WR1. While they did sign tight end Evan Engram and did draft rookie WR Pat Bryant, both will likely be ancillary pieces and serve the dual purpose of giving Nix secondary targets to throw to and draw away defensive coverage from Sutton. These don't seem likely to affect his production much. Sutton caught 81 of his 135 targets in 2024 for 1,081 yards and eight scores.
If he stays healthy for all 17 games, expecting similar production in 2025 is warranted. Sutton projects as a fringe WR1, as he finished as the WR15 last year. His big frame and physical play style allow him to thrive in the red zone and make circus catches down the field.
Being in a Sean Payton-coached offense and having quarterback Bo Nix, set to play in his second season after an excellent rookie year, doesn't hurt either. Sutton's WR22 ADP is pretty appropriate, as he finished as the WR26 in PPR points per game last season, but managed to play all 17 contests.
- John Johnson
Calvin Ridley, Tennessee Titans
Tennessee Titans wide receiver Calvin Ridley secured 64 of his 120 targets for 1,017 yards and four touchdowns in his first season in the Music City. While catching passes from Will Levis and Mason Rudolph, the former first-round pick finished 36th among wideouts in half-PPR fantasy points per game (11.7). Ridley ranked No. 1 in unrealized air yards (1,097) and 97th in catchable target rate (59.2%).
Needless to say, his quarterback situation was not conducive to fantasy production, so No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward could be a significant upgrade. That said, despite the recent success of C.J. Stroud and Jayden Daniels, rookie quarterbacks traditionally struggle to support high-end fantasy football pass-catchers.
Ridley has a wide range of outcomes in 2025, but his low-end WR3 cost in fantasy drafts makes him worth consideration. He's the clear No. 1 option in Tennessee's pass-catching group, featuring the aging Tyler Lockett and a handful of middle-round rookie receivers. Ridley has WR2 upside due to overall projected volume, but expect plenty of down weeks if you decide to pull the trigger on him.
