ANALYSIS: The Seattle Mariners were forced to bring up Tyler Locklear from Triple-A Tacoma when their regular first baseman, Ty France, was placed on the 10-day IL.
Locklear was having a solid season at Double-A Arkansas, hitting .291 with eight home runs and 26 RBI before being promoted to Triple-A Tacoma in May. He continued to hit well at the next level with a .300 average, one home run, seven RBI, and six walks.
Locklear went 1-4 in his Mariners debut with an RBI double. The former second-round pick is set to play at first base every day while France is out, even with lefty slugger Luke Raley on the roster.
Servais said that Tyler Locklear is expected to play daily and they won't platoon him with Luke Raley.

Locklear has hit at every level of the minors and even has some sneaky speed for a corner infielder with 16 career steals in the minors over 630 at-bats. He's a nice add in deeper formats, especially in leagues that count OBP, as Locklear has solid plate discipline and a .404 OBP this season across 198 at-bats in Double-A and Triple-A.
