Should I pickup Hassan Haskins or Kimani Vidal as fantasy football waiver wire pickups for Week 6 of 2025? Read our fantasy football waiver wire outlooks.
Los Angeles Chargers rookie running back Omarion Hampton (ankle) had two massive games in Week 3 and Week 4 after a slow start to his first season in the NFL. But on Sunday, he exited his team's loss to the Washington Commanders after an ankle injury.
Unfortunately, it was recently announced that Hampton would be placed on injured reserve after suffering this ankle injury. He is now set to miss at least the next four games. We don't have a timeline for his return yet.
With Chargers RB Najee Harris (Achilles) out for the season, it's now Kimani Vidal and Hassan Haskins remaining on the team's roster who are next in line to carry the backfield work. But which one should you pick up off waivers ahead of Week 6?

Kimani Vidal Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlook
Vidal has had minimal playing time so far in his career. He was a late-round draft pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and wasn't able to leapfrog J.K. Dobbins or Gus Edwards on the depth chart. He mostly split work with Edwards, Dobbins, and Haskins in Dobbins' four-game absence due to injury late in the season.
In those contests, Vidal didn't record a touchdown and had just one instance with eight or more touches. His involvement was very minimal, and he had zero games with five or more PPR fantasy points. That was probably primarily due to Edwards getting more work than he did, though.

Vidal was a productive workhorse in college, but he attended Troy, which never faced high-quality competition. After Hampton went down with his injury, Vidal carried the ball four times for 18 yards and caught one pass for one yard.
Haskins was less productive, handling five carries for 13 yards and catching his only target for two yards. It seems like Vidal is at least worth a waiver pickup for now. While the Chargers' offense has been struggling, it appears that he could be more efficient.
Hassan Haskins Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Outlook
The case for Haskins to get a majority of the backfield workload in Hampton's absence is hard to make. He was minimally involved last season when Dobbins was hurt, logging a total of three touches in the weeks that Dobbins didn't play.
Unlike Vidal, Haskins scored touchdowns last season, though. He had a receiving touchdown in Week 16 and rushing scores in Week 10 and Week 18. He was also first in line to get more work once Edwards went down with his injury. In Weeks 17 and 18, Haskins handled 21 total touches.
RB Hassan Haskins (28) has been a more effective/involved contributor on offense lately.

Depth charts really aren't linear, though. How players are utilized by their offenses in one year, when injuries start to impact them, doesn't necessarily translate to future production in different situations. It's challenging to envision Haskins in a workhorse role here.
However, he has a significant size advantage over Vidal -- Haskins weighs 228 pounds, 13 more than Vidal's 215. Haskins getting the goal-line work would make sense.
Should I Pickup Kimani Vidal or Hassan Haskins For Fantasy Football?
It's hard to pick here. The Chargers have been extremely pass-heavy this season, likely due to them signing wide receiver Keenan Allen, the emergence of Quentin Johnston, and the sustained excellent play of Ladd McConkey. They have an excellent pass-catching corps.
Their offensive line has suffered, though. With both of their starting offensive tackles, Rashawn Slater (knee), who is out for the season, and Joe Alt (ankle), who is currently week-to-week, it could be tough sledding in the run game. However, I'd recommend Vidal as the pickup because he might be able to handle more pass-catching duties.
Top 5 Chargers PFF Offense Grades vs. Commanders:
1. QB Justin Herbert 84.1
2. WR Keenan Allen 75.7
3. RB Omarion Hampton 74.9
4. LG Zion Johnson 67.0
5. RB Kimani Vidal 64.5 pic.twitter.com/FHCA0vxtMS— Alex Insdorf (@alexinsdorf99) October 6, 2025
Vidal makes sense in PPR leagues, while Haskins likely would be the add in standard leagues. Without plenty of PPR points propping up Vidal or a pair of touchdowns for Haskins, it's hard to envision them having major fantasy value moving forward, though.
