BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues

OWNED IN: 48% of leagues

ANALYSIS: Tampa Bay Rays relief pitcher Sergio Romo has been a man of many talents this season, pitching as a starter, middle reliever, and closer for Tampa Bay. Since moving into the closer's role, after the trade of Alex Colome, Romo has turned into a lock down closer.

Romo is 1-2 with a 3.95 ERA with 11 saves this season, but 10 of those saves have come since June 1 and he has a 1.37 ERA in 19 2/3 innings in the same time span. Much of his success should be attributed to his 89% strand rate and he has struck out a respectable 17 batters while allowing just 16 base runners. He still could do better than a 44% ground ball rate that he has since June 1 (and he has a 2.67 FIP and 3.84 xFIP), but Romo is still getting the job done.

As it has been said many times, there are only 30 closer jobs in baseball and, in most H2H leagues, saves are still a key weekly category. That being said, Romo needs to be owned in more than 48% of leagues, as he is the closer for the Rays. Fantasy owners may also get a boost with Romo frequently pitching more than one inning of effective baseball.
