Todd McGill's Round 4 PGA DFS showdown slate picks for the 2025 U.S. Open. His top in-tournament DFS lineup picks and top plays for DraftKings and FanDuel.
The 125th U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club is proving to be as big a brute as advertised, as four players are managing to enter the final round under par. Scoring has been as difficult as any in recent memory, though with the rain that ended play early on Friday and was on-and-off Saturday, the course has lost a bit of its bite. But don't be fooled, this is still the hardest test in golf.
With so many of the game's biggest names struggling to get in contention—or even make the cut—the leaderboard is chock-full of unproven players on a stage this big. Sam Burns leads by a single shot over J.J. Spaun and Adam Scott. On a layout as brutal as Oakmont, leads can disappear with one swing. In fact, each of the last two 54-hole leaders of this championship on this golf course have struggled mightily. Tomorrow's DFS strategy is reliant on finding guys to just hang on for dear life.
Showdown, unlike typical golf DFS that spans the entire tournament, is a contest that focuses on each round as an individual event. Finding guys performing well on approach is king, but roster decisions that give you ownership leverage from taking riskier players on the board that haven't played their best but present a high likelihood of a bounce-back round are also important. In other words, this is a sprint, not a marathon.

Weather, Course Conditions, and Tee Times
Most times, rain isn't much of a welcome sight on the golf course. However, the rain on Saturday actually produced the lowest scores of the three days, with 12 guys shooting under par. The added precipitation takes some of the sting away from hitting out of the thick rough. Additionally, softer surfaces make hitting fairways and greens much easier. Anyone within eight shots has a legitimate chance tomorrow.
Round 4 Strategy
The mindset for final-round showdowns is not to pull any punches. A great starting point is to take guys who have a knack for hammering down the gas pedal on Sunday and have at least shown flashes of form over the first three rounds.
Remember that ownership levels will continuously drop the closer you get to the morning's first tee time, so finding the guys who will bounce back is paramount to winning big.

Favorite Play: As much as this pains me to admit, Scottie Scheffler is the only player at the top of the board with any hope of a decent finish this week. The world no. 1 has been baffled on the greens, which isn't exactly reflected in the strokes gained putting metric. However, if you've watched his rounds over the first three days, you've seen how many short putts that have cost him several strokes.
The driver also hasn't quite been right this week for the former Texas Longhorn, who is only averaging +0.12 off the tee. Like I said, there isn't much to feel good about at the top. Though it seems plausible to expect a decent round from Scheffler tomorrow.

Favorite Play: I have believed for a few years now that Viktor Hovland has the demeanor to win a U.S. Open if his game stays steady for four consecutive rounds. He'll get a chance tomorrow, starting the day in solo fourth at -1 under par. The 27-year-old leads the field in strokes gained on approach (+2.83) and ranks fourth in strokes gained around the green (+1.82).
The driver is a concern, but he's been one of the few guys who have managed to find their way around the rough and make key birdies when out of position. Tomorrow could be his time.

Favorite Play: Tyrell Hatton is another LIV name that isn't getting nearly the attention he should be at a major championship, sitting at T6 and only five shots back. After a slow start, he's posted back-to-back solid rounds at Oakmont CC. For the week, the 33-year-old ranks third in greens in regulation (75.9%), which translates to sixth in strokes gained on approach (+1.82).
In all reality, though, the Englishman has been getting the job done in all facets, ranking 10th in strokes gained tee to green (+3.04). Should the guys above him get off to rocky starts tomorrow, look out for Hatton.

Favorite Play: Adam Scott's performance this week in Pennsylvania is as impressive as anything we've seen this year. He's the only player on the leaderboard who hasn't posted an over-par round through three days. The ball striking has been rock solid, as the 44-year-old leads the field in strokes gained ball striking (+4.06) and off the tee (+1.95).
Putting is still a concern for the Australian great, but he's averaged +1.4 strokes gained on the greens over the last 36 holes. Of anyone at the top of the leaderboard, Scott is the only player with major championship pedigree.

Favorite Play: Chris Gotterup is looking for his best career major championship finish, sitting T11 heading into tomorrow's final round after shooting two straight -1 under par 69s on Friday and Saturday. He's the second-best player in strokes gained off the tee (+1.78) and ranks third in greens in regulation (75.9%). This could be a huge week for the 25-year-old, who is 192nd in the OWGR.
